Still twenty-four inside.

A lifetime of looking, travelling and making things. The photography comes first, but the spirit behind it is part road trip, part exhibition opening and part late-night idea.

About Oz

Cool kids want to become cool grown-ups. The trick is never quite finishing the job.

I photograph life as it happens. The quiet. The wild. The in-between. The stuff worth remembering.

Oz
The man behind the lens

Hatched in 1960's Brisbane, then I found myself , twelve years old freezing my arse off in Auckland. I was pretty confident, Kiwi's were pretty cool , all was good, so good in fact it would be twenty five years before setting foot back in his place of birth. For some reason I have attracted nicknames, perhaps due to my travelling ways, but my first one came from the halls and corfridors of an Auckland school, two or so weeks after touching down; what else could it be, I was now and forever to be known as a boy called Oz. Educated by the road. Oz has spent decades chasing light across salt flats, back roads, small towns and big skies. His work is honest, unposed and rooted in place.

Equal parts documentary and daydream, his photographs invite people to slow down and look properly. He also has a weak spot for loud rooms, odd characters and stranger digital experiments, which gives the work its edge.

On the road

From Brisbane
to bumpy tracks
and back again.

You’ll find Oz somewhere between the horizon and the next cuppa. Always up for a yarn.
